UAE VAT Rate

UAE VAT was introduced on 1 January 2018 at a standard rate of 5%. This applies to most goods and services sold in the UAE, including ecommerce sales.

When to Register for VAT

Mandatory registration: taxable turnover exceeds AED 375,000/year. Voluntary registration: turnover exceeds AED 187,500/year. Marketplace sales (Amazon, Noon) count toward this threshold.

Zero-Rated vs Exempt

Some goods are zero-rated (0% VAT) including certain food items, children's clothing, and medicines. Financial services and residential property are VAT exempt. Most ecommerce products are standard-rated at 5%.
